Technical Rescue Truck Technician (TRT)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The OCFA Technical Rescue Truck (TRT) Program frequently recruits Fire Captains, Fire Apparatus Engineers and Firefighters for the position of part-time Technical Rescue Truck Technician. Periodically the TRT program looks to expand the list of fully qualified part-time Technical Rescue Truck Technicians to support TRT staffing needs. The position requires participation in rigorous physical and mentally challenging field operations, encompassing multiple disciplines of technical rescue.
SCHEDULE & TRAINING
Part-time Technical Rescue Truck Technicians are selected through an interview process. Successful candidates are usually placed on an eligibility list. Candidate's individual qualifications determine the need for additional training. If selected, a candidate is provided the additional training TRT courses by the OCFA if necessary. Once the TRT qualification is met, the candidate is eligible for backfill opportunities on the technical rescue trucks as well as a potential of an administrative assignment based on department needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The part-time Technical Rescue Truck Technician recruitment is open to current OCFA career Operations Section personnel only. To be eligible, individuals having the rank Firefighter must be off of probation at the close of the application period.

• Structural Collapse Technician (RS1, RS2, RS3)
• Highline Rescue Course
• Large Vehicle Extrication Training
• Participation in the OCFA “WEFIT” program
• IRB Boat Operator and Rescue Training
• Current or recent member of California Task 5 and/or the OCFA Technical Rescue Truck Program
