WEFIT Coordinator
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The OCFA Human Resources, Risk Management section periodically opens a recruitment for the position of WEFIT Program Coordinator. The WEFIT Program Coordinator is a role model for firefighter health and fitness. This position is a key team member along with Risk Management, Executive Management, the Operations Department, and OCPFA Local 3631 in the ongoing success of the program.
General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Develop, schedule, and coordinate the medical and fitness exams for the Operations Department
• Develop and manage the WEFIT Program budget
• Manage fitness equipment purchases and repair
• Schedule and attend meetings with Hoag Executive Health, the OCFA medical provider
• Assist with the WEFIT Oversight Committee meeting agendas, reports, and attend quarterly meetings
• Develop and monitor program evaluation tools and track program results
• Assist with recruit and incumbent firefighter health and fitness training
• Participate in the OCFA Safety Officer Program
• Develop health and fitness education programs
• Provide oversight of Peer Fitness Trainers and Program Goals and Objectives
• Maintain updated information on OCFA Intranet and Website
• Act as liaison with outside organizations on OCFA WEFIT Program
• Act as liaison between OCPFA Local 3631 and OCFA Management
SCHEDULE
This administrative assignment typically requires a two-year minimum commitment and works a 9/80 staff assignment work schedule.
COMPENSATION
*Selected individuals shall receive staff assignment pay (SAP) of seven and five-tenths percent (7.5%) of the employee's base salary during assignment. In addition to the SAP, the employee assigned as the WEFIT Program Coordinator shall also receive staff incentive pay (SIP) equal to the greater of ten percent (10%) of the employee's base salary, or, if the employee is receiving paramedic pay at the time of transition to a designated staff position, the employee may continue receiving paramedic pay in lieu of the ten percent (10%) SIP.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Current employment with the OCFA as a Fire Captain, Fire Apparatus Engineer, or Firefighter
• Supervisor concurrence
• Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Organizational and planning skills
• Both verbal and written communication skills
