Description:
This course is beneficial for most ICS positions. Map and compass is a prerequisite for Fire Line EMT/Paramedic and Field Observers for Orange County Fire Authority employees. Course content includes use of maps and symbols, using a compass to find your field location on a map, using a GPS receiver to locate your position on a map, establishing waypoints, track logs and mapping the perimeter of a fire. The course includes both classroom and field exercises.
*Required for Field Observer, Fireline EMT and Fireline Paramedic*

Experience on incident assignments in operations or support functions
STAFFING:
No backfill, holdover, or overtime is authorized.

If a student is accepted into the class but becomes unable to attend, it is expected that they provide prompt advance notice of the cancellation, thereby allowing others the opportunity to participate. Failure to provide appropriate notification will result in the issuance of a "No Call/No Show Report" to the Training Chief of their respective agency. This information will be diligently monitored to assess attendance for future class offerings.
